Have you considered some sort of ad-free premium service? I'm sure I'm not alone in that I'm happy to support the site, but I don't like ads (or the corresponding tracking cookies, untrusted JavaScript, etc.). I'd be more than happy to pay some sort of annual fee to be able to use the site without ads, were that an option.
